Catherine Conelly / Writer and Editor and Marketer
"What are you going to do with a writing degree?" It was a common question — and a good one. I just knew that I liked to write. I'll be fine, I thought, and I went with it.
After college, I started working as a junior editor for a women's lifestyle website, finding my way while copyediting and sprucing up old content. I started to collaborate with the video team, publishing and editing stories to complement on-camera interviews.
I worked my way into a senior editor role. Wellness trends, love conundrums, and beauty routines became my beats. From award show red carpets to investigating miracle serums to interviewing celebrities about their athleisure lines, I was able to sharpen my writing skills, develop content plans, and explore the art of writing headlines.
Eventually, a desire to expand my writing portfolio won over, and I leaped into the world of freelance writing. In addition to my editorial pursuits, I took on more ghostwriting for small business professionals and bloggers as well as content marketing projects. I've written copy for promotional newsletters, social media content, and ads, but I specialize in telling stories and reporting valuable information by way of blog posts and articles. Whether it's marketing copy to support a company's mission or a feature on the strange ways people fight wrinkles — I love to find the right words.
